09/07/07 We are proud to announce that Spark Fun Electronics is now carrying Virtual Cogs products.

The Virtual Cogs family of embedded computer systems is designed with a focus on driving customer success. Whether you're building a device for personal enjoyment or a commercial device with thousands of users or more, you can confidently build your future with Virtual Cogs products and services.

Virtual Cogs products offer you and your business the following benefits:

Save Time...

Virtual Cogs products and services are designed to radically reduce your product development cycles, enabling faster time to market for your products. Virtual Cogs also offers an extensive library of pre-built applications that can be extended and customized to save additional time while addressing the foundational need of your products.

Innovative capabilities, like running Virtual Cogs embedded computer systems without an external power supply, allow your developers to get started quickly, focusing on building products, not infrastructure.

Building your future on a Virtual Cogs foundation helps achieve faster time to value!

Reduce Costs...

Virtually every design decision - the form factor selected, the processor chosen, offering the ability to run Virtual Cogs products without an operating system or with Linux® - was undertaken with customer cost reduction in mind.

A square form factor with pre-drilled mounting holes is designed to be easier and less costly for customers to deploy Virtual Cogs products over alternative form factors.

Running Virtual Cogs products without an operating system can help save costs and time. Additionally, this feature allows your designers to leverage their existing skills, which can speed development and thereby reduce costs.

Industry reports estimate that a team of hardware engineers require 3 to 4 months to design products on a new architecture. The associated costs can be significantly reduced by leveraging a Virtual Cogs foundation for your next product.

Reduce Risk...

Virtual Cogs facilitates risk reduction by offloading the design of base technology that is outside of your designers’ core competency. The Virtual Cogs team includes experienced satellite designers with a deep understanding for embedded computer systems - our core competency. Utilize our expertise as the foundation for your products to deliver higher quality products than building from scratch.

Virtual Cogs products utilize the Freescale i.MX21 processor, allowing you to build your products on a widely adopted processor with industry leading documentation.

For customers moving from 8-bit to 32-bit architectures, Virtual Cogs offers additional risk reduction by enabling Virtual Cogs products to run without an operating system. This capability has proven to be an incremental, risk insulating, product development approach for customers moving to 32-bit architectures.

Stackable...

Virtual Cogs products utilize standard connectors and are virtually infinitely stackable, enabling customer flexibility and choice. Incrementally mixing and matching across the Virtual Cogs family of products enables the rapid development of differentiated products that address the needs of your varying customer segments.

Customization...

Virtual Cogs has the proven technical expertise, gained through a wide range of real-world product development projects that your company can leverage to attain faster time to market. The Virtual Cogs team works with customers to customize their products to meet customers' individual requirements. Virtual Cogs products were built with extensibility and flexibility in mind from day one. For instance, Virtual Cogs products are built with readily available connectors and parts. Using the Linux operating system on Virtual Cogs products allows for ultimate customization of operating system features.

Costs are reduced during Virtual Cogs product customization because the Virtual Cogs team designed their products with customers in mind.

Ease of Use...

Virtual Cogs designers track ease of use as a key success criteria for the embedded products that they build for customers. Virtual Cogs knows that the product development lifecycle is difficult enough without embedded technology adding to the challenges. When embedded technology isn’t designed with ease of use in mind, projects face needless difficulty. A focus on ease of use directed the form factor for Virtual Cogs products and motivated the inclusion of an onboard JTAG interface to vastly simplify the debugging process for your designers.

  World Class Support...

Virtual Cogs delivers world class support to customers using communication modes (including Emails, Telephone and Newsgroups) and response times that align with customer needs. The Virtual Cogs team is able to draw on a broad set of customer experiences to address support inquiries rapidly and with a high level of quality. Additionally, Virtual Cogs offers a growing set of tutorial and videos that act as a self-education and self-support vehicle for customers.
